Since its inception, the annual EMW meeting has gained a reputation as an important event, providing an opportunity for medical professionals to keep abreast of the latest developments in diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases, and to share their knowledge and experience.
The 12th Hong Kong Diabetes & Cardiovascular Risk Factors – East Meets West Symposium was held on 1 – 2 October 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity (HKIDO), The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Foundation for Research and Development in Diabetes (HKFRDD), the Hong Kong Association for the Study of Obesity (HKASO), the Hong Kong Atherosclerosis Society (HKAS) and UBM Medica Pacific Limited (UBM Medica), with support from many professional healthcare associations, the symposium attracted over 600 physicians and other healthcare professionals from Asia-Pacific and other regions, and the show up rate was over 80%. A distinguished faculty of leading local and overseas experts in diabetes and cardiovascular diseases presented state-of-the-art lectures to an international audience of cardiology and endocrinology specialists, diabetes nurses and dieticians. In addition, special sessions were reserved for patients, trainees and young scientists and clinical researchers. We were confident that all the delegates enjoyed the programme and returned to their work places and daily lives with updated and valuable information and knowledge.
We look forward to the 13th EMW Symposium!
